I get back in and pull out of the garage once outside I check the siren to make sure that works. I pick up the mic.*

*With my assignment in hand, I switch keys as I head out on patrol in 202. I reach my car and start it up as I test the lights and sirens and make sure they work before I head out. They appear to work and I backup and head out of the parking lot as I begin patrol.*

"202 is available, leaving the station."

*I say over the mobile mic as I begin to cruise around waiting for a 911 call or for something to catch my attention.*

*I drive around Clinton to look for any traffic violations. I then see a car run the light right by Clinton High School and speed off at a high rate of speed. I make my right turn quick to get behind the vehicle as I pass the front of the High School. The vehicle makes another quick left turn heading up east past the school. I catch up to the car and call out my stop.*

"251, Traffic on a Gray Mercedes 4-door, No Plates. Rockerfeller Rd, next to the High School."

*I light the vehicle up and all of a sudden it takes a quick turn into the student parking lot. I follow the vehicle in the lot as it pulls into a parking spot. I then pull up behind the car and jump out quick*

"251, Final stop will be in the student lot."

*I get into 204 and scroll through the dispatch terminal, making sure that no calls are being held.  I then key the mic, marking myself available.*

"204 is available, on patrol."

*I head out to a spot in Fort Shannon that is quiet since I don't really feel like doing much in the heat, but at least I can be in a decent position if I get a call.*

*I grab the keys for 203 and head out to the unit.  I check everything to make sure that I'm not missing anything and so I'll be sure of where it is.  Once I'm positive that I have everything, I climb into the driver seat and start the unit up.  I do all of my checks on the lighting before scrolling through the dispatch terminal and verifying that no calls are being held and then key the mic.*

I fumble around, still lost in the new station, but eventually find my patrol bag and keys and walk out to unit 202. I check the systems of the new Ford Taurus Interceptor, a far cry from my old charger. After ensuring that all of my systems are in order and familiarizing myself with the Smart Siren system, putting my bag in the trunk, and studying my map one last time, I head out of the station and hit the road.

I exit the station with my bag slung over my shoulder and keys in my hand I begin to scan the parking lot for Traffic Car 252, trying to find it quickly without being to obvious about not knowing here it is. When I spot the patrol car I walk up to the driver's side door, insert the key and unlock it. I reach in and quickly pop the trunk to the sedan and walk around and set my bag in the trunk and shut it. I do a quick walk around of my patrolcar, and when I see everything is in order I return to the driver's seat get in, and leave the facility to begin my usual traffic rounds.

"252, available, patrol."

*Jack and I leave the scene of the domestic and pull into a parking spot.*

'Alright, you are driving. We will just get out and look for some simple traffic infractions.'

*After we switch places, I get comfortable as we leave the parking lot.*

'So, traffic stops are anything but routine. Things to remember are when you make your initial approach, to always check the trunk to ensure it is secured. Whether you make a driver side or passenger side approach is up to you. Either one has its advantages and disadvantages. When you speak to the driver, I always identify who I am, who I am with, the reason I stopped you, then ask for license and registration, and proof of insurance. I have never cared for that whole do you know why I stopped you bit.'

*I climb in the drivers seat of the Tahoe and buckle up.  I pull out of the lot and start driving down the road watching for traffic.  As I'm driving a Durango passes me on the right and i pull in behind him.*

'Never thought i would be able to pace a car in this big of a billboard.'

* After pacing him for about a mile and seeing that he is doing about 55 in a 35 I get ready to initiate a traffic stop.  i flip on the overhead lights, turn the spot light on him and hit the siren twice.  I see his break lights come on and he turns into the sky university campus and stops.*

"Dispatch, 249 traffic stop."

"Go ahead 249."

"249 out at Sky university with a Dodger Durango, blue in color, occupied 2 times, license plate DHC3358 out of North Carolina."

"10-4 249."
